At SKYLAS Academic Programs and Tuition, we are dedicated to providing an enriching learning environment to deliver tuition to children aged 2 to 3 years. These small group sessions are delivered with the child’s parent/guardian being involved and participating in the session. This approach is to foster relationships between parents/guardians and their children and to provide a transparent understanding of their child’s academic abilities.
Our tuition programs are designed to support and enhance the developmental milestones of each child while fostering a deep love for learning. As part of our commitment to our community of young learners we have collated a range of learning outcomes that we aim to achieve with our young learners with the participation of their parents/guardians.
By incorporating a wide age group in these special group sessions, we allow opportunities for learning by the younger children from the older children. We also allow the older children to progress to individual tuition and enter the 3 – 5 year group sessions.
Cognitive Development is a main focus point of our academic programs:
- Language Development: Through interactive activities, songs, and storytelling, we aim to enhance language development in our young learners. We aim for children to begin expressing themselves verbally, singing, recognising and naming familiar objects, and understanding simple age appropriate instructions.
- Problem-Solving Skills: By providing age-appropriate puzzles and games, we encourage children to develop their problem-solving abilities. We love to see them flourish to show curiosity and exploration, attempting to figure out how things work and finding solutions to age appropriate challenges.
- Early Literacy: Building vocabulary through books and music. Focusing on phonological awareness, print conventions and phonic knowledge with age appropriate mediums of delivering the content.
- Early Numeracy: We introduce various concepts of numbers, counting, and shapes through fun and engaging activities. We use oral, visual and textile content to deliver tuition. Our goal is for children to recognise numbers, count objects, and understand shapes.
We also believe brain breaks are essential to assist children focus and remain engaged whilst they absorb the goodness of their tutoring sessions.
Throughout the sessions we incorporate Physical Development, in the form of instructional programs:
- Gross Motor Skills: This includes structured exercises, yoga sessions, various sport skills, dance, balance focus and obstacles. Children find improved coordination, balance and agility.
- Fine Motor Skills: Through activities specifically relating to their learning topics such as painting, drawing, cutting, lacing, using building blocks, and many more strategies, we encourage the development of fine motor skills. Children show improved hand-eye coordination and early writing skills.
We believe Parent/Guardian Involvement is key!
We recognise the significance of your involvement in a child’s learning journey. We actively encourage and invite parents/guardians to engage with their child during our 2 – 3 years old group sessions.
